The intention of this Masters Project is to create Concept Art suitable for a 2D Platformer Game inspired by South Korean mythology with a focus on Creature Design.

Tiger Scrolls: Reflection

Strengths

The strongest scrolls are the Gangshi Tiger and the Dosa Tiger. They work well as a pair because they form a Yin-Yang shape (or Taegeuk in Korean). This reflects the opposite nature of these two tiger species I have created.

If I was to improve the Dosa Scroll, I could try adding a little bit of costume detail to improve the portrait and reveal a little more narrative background for the character. To improve the Gangshi Tiger's Scroll, I could add some red accents to highlight the trailing blood vessels and create more visual variety.

The Magpie Tiger is also a very strong Scroll and works well as an image on its own.

Weaknesses

The weaker Scrolls are the Yong-Wang Tiger and the Masked Tiger.

The Yong-Wang Tiger could have a small environmental detail, similar to the Magpie Tiger. Maybe I could add some lilies similar to the Korean Scroll below. Or, perhaps, I could create more Yong-Wang characters to populate the Scroll like a school of Yong-Wang Tigers. Also, the colours of the Yong-Wang Tiger are a little over-saturated compared to the other scrolls.

The design of the Masked Tiger, I believe, is incomplete. The Masked Tiger is part of the Tokkaebi Tiger subspecies, along with the Magpie Tiger. Therefore, I believe he is missing a pair of horns. This would create a stronger "trickster" personality. Also, the new layout of the Scroll has hidden the tiger's tail. The tail resembled that of a peacock. It could be possible to give the tiger a full length tail, similar to a peacock, so it could curl around itself and therefore be visible in the frame again.
